Kylie

Specializes in young adult females

Hi all!

I’m Kylie, a second-year associate in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s program through the University of North Carolina at Pembroke! My biggest strength as a counselor-in-training is my ability to incorporate empirical research and my clinical knowledge into practice, while still preserving that human connection with clients by exuding empathy and authenticity. You will definitely get to see lots of my personality in sessions. I use a lot of tasteful humor to communicate my perspectives and connect with clients, which ultimately I feel strengthens the imperative therapeutic relationship within counseling. I believe that all individuals have the capacity to achieve their goals and attain a state of holistic wellness. My role is to help untangle the knots (i.e., debilitating anxiety, negative self-talk, unresolved trauma, etc.) that serve as hindrances to a person’s peace, and to restore the power in those I serve.

I’m here to support you on your journey to self discovery and acceptance. My clinical passions entail adolescents, college students and young adults who are struggling to navigate anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, self-esteem issues, romantic and peer relationships. My primary theoretical orientations that I employ are Cognitive Behavior Theory and Feminist Theory; however, I let the needs of the client sitting in front of me steer the skills and resources I utilize, which are pulled from a variety of theories.
